About Pipestem Garden Lodging and Nature Retreat
Ann Reimers Hoffert, owner and operator of Pipestem Creek Garden Lodging and Nature Retreat, grew up appreciating the beauty of birds and the prairies where she first observed them. At the mere age of five, she was introduced to birding by her mom and her mom's friends. It's a passion she has fostered ever since.
After living in other parts of the country for 22 years, Ann returned to her family farm with her husband in 1987. Three years later she started Pipestem Creek, which originally handcrafted earth's bounty into exquisite all-natural home decorating accessories. These products, designed with the specialty sunflowers, specialty grains and flowers grown by Ann on the farm, came from nature and returned to nature as edible bird feeders. Her products were sent across the country and also featured on Martha Stewart Living.
While Ann no longer creates these masterpieces, Pipestem Creek Garden Lodging and Nature Retreat has become a place for her to dging share her life-long passion for birding and nature with others. Ann and her family welcome visitors to Pipestem Creek where they can experience unique birding opportunities. Here they can take in nature at its finest, from rare-bird sightings and tours of the private gardens and buildings to experiencing life on a rural, small grains farm. Beautiful walking trials are maintained through acres of varying habitats.
Pipestem Creek Garden Lodging and Nature Retreat, nestled in the pristine prairie of North Dakota, is located on the 5,000 acre Reimers family farm where Ann grew up. Visitors have access to unlimited, varied habitat in the 700 acres surrounding the property. In addition, they're encouraged to stroll through the on-site gardens and walk the nature trails through woods and prairie.
Three historic buildings also are found on the farm. Moving them onsite allowed Ann to expand the facilities of her all-natural home decorating accessories business. Two of the historic granaries have been renovated for lodging, and the remaining granary houses Vintage Farm Treasures for sale.. These buildings not only add charm to this unique birding destination, but they also house the history of a business built upon the love of nature.
